If you are looking short and less explored trails in Nepal Pikey peak is the one. The best time is except the monsoon as it can be very wet,all are fine. As my experience march/aprill is the best with seasons of rododendron, which blossoms and create its different beautiness on this season. september-october also good with weather. Winter is also fine cause its considerd as low elivation trek.
The sunrise at Pikey peak is great with breathtaking views of panoramic mountains from Annapurna range to Kanchenjunga, most clear mountain view is Mt.everest, Mt.Lhotse and surrounding snow caped mountains of Khumbhu valley. Most nearer peak is Numbur and its neighbourhoods.
The trail is cradle of Sherpa culture and architecture, tibetan buddism and buddhist monasterys makes this place rich with its heritage. The welcoming sherpa hospitality in every stays make your heart warm ever on trek. The two monasterys are consider as big and oldest, thubtenchoeling monastery and chiwong monastery. The chiwong monastery is on the cliff side looking towards valley. Accept this two bigger monasterys there are hundreds of monaterys and stupas were ornamented with buddist architecture.
This trek is part of Jiri - Everest Base Camp trek, which is known as oneOf the oldest trails to reach mountains in khumbhu. I have heard on the Everest expedition of Sir Edmund Hilary an Tenzing norgay made their way via here. Later on Sir Edmund Hilary made airport at Lukla so people does shorter Everest treks nowadays. So this trail is carrying history of Everest trails.🙏
